Dotori is probably my new favourite place for sushi. It’s a family run restaurant based in Finsbury Park serving Japanese and Korean dishes. I’ve heard many good things about this place and how busy it can get, but we managed to find a table on a early Sunday evening. We were spoilt for choice and didn’t know what to order, so we ended up ordering all the dishes recommended by our friend Colin (he knows what’s good!)
To start off we ordered the prawn tempura – 5 pieces in a portion. The tempura batter was super crispy, probably one of the best tempura’s I’ve had in London. I definitely recommend ordering a portion to try.
Next up japchae – beef and vegetables with glass noodles. It was a good portion to share and they gave us a fair amount of beef. I think I prefer this japchae compared to Koba because the flavour was a little tastier.
Bulgogi dolsot – beef and rice in a hot stone pot, it came with a fried egg and some vegetables.
Whenever I go to a Japanese restaurant I usually order a portion of sushi with eel – my favourite because I like the sweet sauce on the fish. At Dotori we ordered the dragon roll – eel, avocado and cucumber. I really enjoyed it.
We love sushi and of course we wouldn’t just order one portion (we can eat a lot), so we also ordered the rainbow roll, it looks as pretty as it sounds. It came with a mixture of fresh fish including salmon and tuna (I think I ate the majority of this)
Overall it was a really enjoyable meal, quite generous portions and good value for money. If I had to choose between Dotori and Eat tokyo I think I prefer this place! I would happily go back again to try the Korean bbq and more sushi of course.
Oishi so!
yummy!
This looks great, Yee. I love the sound of the eel sushi roll!
